Stupid Eye - Stupid comes from its Latin origins, stupere, meaning ‘be amazed or stunned’ with what your inner eye can make you see.
“It requires no art to become stupid; the whole art lies in extracting wisdom from stupidity. Stupidity is the mother of the wise but cleverness never.” (Jung, 1978).
Psychologist Harsheen K. Arora and Artist Vipul Amar call this projectStupid Eye because they wantthemselves and everyone else involved - to see each other without the knowledge and information of wrong/right, real/unreal, important/unimportant as taught to us by society in an effort to educate us and hone our intelligence. They believe an eye that is stupid would be able to see human beings, as they are now and the potential they can reach. Human beings are born with instinctive intelligence, which is far more accepting, truer and phenomenal than analytical intelligence. Thus, such an eye would be filled with more compassion and truer connection (even to oneself) than an eye trained by the overly invasive societal systems, concepts and values.
