Collaborating Psychology and Photography, Stupid Eye uses the process of photographing one’s Ideal Self as a technique to delve deeper into the human psyche and bring out the Real YOU!
Psychologist Harsheen Arora&Vipul Amar Studio of Photographic Arts initiated this project to make a difference...even if it is for a moment, a day to some.
The concept explored here is of Self-Actualization by focusing on one’s Real Self Vs. the Ideal Self.
Originating from the Humanistic School of thought; Real Self stands for the way an individual actually is. Ideal Self on the other hand is the person one wants to be…The idea behind Stupid Eye is to be able to bridge this gap between the two, and move toward self-actualization - the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming.” (Maslow, 2006)
Psychologist Harsheen K. Arora and Artist Vipul Amar call this project Stupid Eye because they want themselves and everyone else involved - to see each other without the knowledge and information of wrong/right, real/unreal, important/unimportant as taught to us by society in an effort to educate us and hone our intelligence.
